Making the most of what you’ve got

Perth blocks are becoming smaller and smaller as the need develops for greater density living throughout the inner suburbs.

One such suburb has been undergoing a transformation for the last 10 years – Ardross. So when this corner block site became available, it was a great opportunity to design a beautiful home directly opposite from Applecross Senior High School and a stones throw away from Garden City.

The design has the usual features – an open plan living area, a games/theatre room, 3 x bedrooms, 2 x bathrooms + a powder room and a study. All designed to fit on a 200 square metre block!

How? Clever design and room placement made that possible. More importantly, the home takes advantage of its location by capturing the northern sun which also faces the school grounds. All the bedrooks and the study also share the view of the parkland and oval which is really clever.

Designing with wide designer-eaves this home also achieved a 9 star energy efficiency rating – that’s no small feat. Most homes barely achieve the required 6 stars – making this residence an economical home to run today, tomorrow and well into the future.
